PIA National Board of Directors Passes Two Natural Disaster Resolutions
On September 23, 2012, the PIA National Board of Directors unanimously passed two resolutions addressing catastrophe preparedness.
One resolution was a comprehensive update of the PIA Policy Addressing Catastrophe Preparedness. The other resolution expressed support for September as Disaster Preparedness Month. Both resolutions were prepared and presented by the PIA National Natural Catastrophe Working Group.
PIA National Secretary/Assistant Treasurer Richard A. Clements is leading PIA’s efforts in the area of flood insurance as PIA National’s representative to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and the Flood Insurance Producers National Committee (FIPNC). He is working with both groups along with the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS) and Write-Your-Own carriers providing questions and suggestions about how to implement the many changes included in the new five-year NFIP reauthorization and reform law.
