Congressman Eric Cantor to Address PIA Federal Legislative Summit
GOP Chief Deputy Majority Whip to Address Insurance Issues
WASHINGTON, March 28, 2003 - Congressman Eric Cantor (R-Virginia) will address the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents during the group's 20th Annual Federal Legislative Summit April 3, 2003 in Washington, D.C.
"A rising star in Congress, Eric Cantor is a steadfast supporter of the issues that are important to professional insurance agents, including the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act," said PIA Assistant Vice President of Federal Affairs Peter Bizzozero. "He supports tax relief for the owners of small businesses and all Americans, and he has always been a friend to PIA."
"PIA is pleased to welcome Congressman Cantor as the speaker at the kickoff breakfast for our annual Federal Legislative Summit," said Bizzozero.
Congressman Cantor, who represents Virginia's Seventh Congressional District, is currently serving his second term in Congress. In November 2002 Cantor became the Chief Deputy Majority Whip in the House of Representatives, the highest appointed position in the House Republican leadership. He also serves on the powerful tax-writing Ways and Means Committee.
A lifelong resident of Richmond, Eric Cantor served nine years in the Virginia House of Delegates before his election to the U.S. House of Representatives in November 2000.
The 2003 PIA Federal Legislative Summit is a gathering of PIA members from across the nation. It is a one-day legislative "fly-in" by PIA members who spend a day lobbying their elected representatives in their Capitol Hill offices. On the evening of April 3, the Professional Insurance Agents Political Action Committee (PIAPAC) holds its annual PIAPAC Fundraising Dinner. Congressman Chip Pickering (R-Mississippi) is the keynote speaker for the PIAPAC event.
Founded in 1931, PIA is a national trade association that represents member insurance agents and their employees who sell and service all kinds of insurance, but specialize in coverage of automobiles, homes and businesses.
