SC DOI: Bring Your Babies to Work
The South Carolina Department of Insurance has rolled out a first-of-its kind trial program among South Carolina cabinet agencies that allows new parents to bring their infants to work. Insurance Director Ray Farmer said he heard about the idea from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), which has allowed employees to bring babies to work for 20 years. More than 160 babies have come to the NAIC's offices during work hours. State insurance departments in Kansas, Arizona, and Washington state have adopted similar programs. “Anything that helps develop a family-friendly atmosphere, I’m certainly in favor of,” Farmer said.
