Former PIA National President F. Wayne Bowman Dies
We are saddened to learn of the passing of former PIA National President F. Wayne Bowman, CPIA, on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at his home in Sun City West, AZ. Wayne recently celebrated his 90th birthday with family and friends at his home in Arizona.
Wayne was PIA of Nebraska’s President in 1974-1975. In 1976, he was elected to PIA’s National Board of Directors and served two terms as national vice president. In 1983, Wayne was elected President of PIA National.
During his year as PIA National president, Wayne was heavily involved in the Financial Institutions Deregulation Act and its impact on the insurance industry. Another hallmark of his time as president was the formation of PIA Services, Inc. He was delighted to have PIA Services give the association a vehicle to develop a wide range of products and services for agents.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Susan, of 52 years, and four children, Teresa K. (Brad) Bukacek, Tamara S. Turner, Michael L. Bowman, Gerald L. Bowman, 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, all of Omaha NE. He was preceded in death by son Marc T. Bowman in 2018 and brother, Earl Dean.
