NFIP Revision to Reason Code 26

The NFIP has recently revised the requirements for Cancellation Reason Code 26.
March 19, 2019

The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) has recently revised the requirements for Cancellation Reason Code 26, to clarify conflicting guidance for the cancellation of an NFIP policy due to a duplicate flood policy from sources other than the NFIP. Reason Code 26 only applies when the insured did not intend to renew or purchase the NFIP policy, and the NFIP policy cannot be cancelled mid-term when a non-NFIP policy was purchased during the term.

FEMA has sent a message to the NFIP Direct Servicing Agent and the Write Your Own companies requesting that they implement guidance issued to them on March 18, 2019, which can be found at the following link: https://nfipservices.floodsmart.gov/wyobull2019.html
