The South Carolina Department of Insurance warns consumers that false information is circulating about certain Medicare add-on (Medigap) coverage. The agency issued a notice because certain supplemental policies are being phased out, and that appears to have caused confusion. South Carolina Department of Insurance Director Ray Farmer says the agency sent the alert after fielding calls from concerned consumers regarding Medigap plans, affirming that customers who already have this insurance — called Plan F — will be able to keep it forever, and those who will be age 65 before January 1, 2020 will be able to acquire Plan F coverage and it cannot be cancelled.
