Scooters Face Restrictions After Deaths
Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has banned the nighttime use of rented electric scooters and bikes following the area’s fourth e-scooter related death in three months. City officials said that starting August 9, scooter rental companies must disable the devices between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. or risk losing their permits. The restriction does not apply to privately owned scooters. Bottoms said the nighttime ban is temporary while the city considers long-term measures to ensure safety for scooter riders, motorists and pedestrians.
